No matter how old a person is, wrinkles can be frustrating. There really is no way around showing signs of age, it is a natural process after all. But, that does not mean reducing signs of aging and wrinkles is a hopeless endeavor. There are many ways to get rid of wrinkles, or at least slow down the process.
Here are Just a Few Ways to get rid of those Wrinkles:
1. Stay Away From the Sun
This is easier said than done, but you do not have to live like a vampire in order to reduce those wrinkles. The sun takes quite a toll on our skin and can cause wrinkles among other skin problems. Avoiding direct exposure to sunlight is one option, but wearing sunscreen to protect your precious skin from harmful UV rays is a more reasonable alternative—especially when the sun is out and the outdoors is calling your name.
2. Don’t Smoke (Or Quit, If You Are a Smoker)
There are dozens and dozens of reasons why smoking is harmful to the body, and skin damage is just the tip of the iceberg. Studies have shown that smoking damages skin cells and causes an increase in wrinkles.
3. Get a Good Night’s Sleep
There are numerous benefits to getting some beauty sleep, including a reduction in wrinkles and other signs of aging. During sleep, the body produces Human Growth Hormones (HGH) that help keep skin more pliable and healthy. Also, studies have shown that sleeping on your back will reduce “sleep lines,” that form when sleeping face-down. These sleep lines increase the frequency and magnitude of wrinkles.
4. No More Squinting (And Get Glasses if Need Be!)
Squinting causes wrinkles and crow’s feet due to an increased amount of stress on the eyes and forehead. If you squint when you read, you may want to look into getting a pair of reading glasses, as that will reduce the need to squint in the first place.
5. Eating Habits Make a Big Difference
Diet plays an important role in how the body ages, and the health of the skin plays a part in that. Eating more fish (especially) salmon can increase the health of skin. This is because fish has Omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to help the skin. Introducing more soy into your diet is another way to give your skin a hand. Soy is known to help heal and mitigate damage to the skin from the sun.
6. Botox and Other Cosmetic Procedures
Another thing that can be done is seeking out Botox or other cosmetic procedures. Botox cosmetics treatment is a quick, convenient and painless (most patients describe it as equivalent to a minor insect bite.) Botox relaxes the facial muscles to help smooth the skin and leave it looking fresh and healthy.
