The Summer Trends We’re Loving!
Now that we’ve finally seen some of that mysterious thing called ‘sunshine’ here in the UK we can finally start wearing some of those summer clothes we hastily bought back in March. Summertime is a great season for fashion choices, you can finally show off that outfit you’re wearing instead of having to layer up in a jacket or coat. We’ve rounded up our favourite trends off SS15!
That 70s Show
So far, the shops have been over spilling with all things 70s. We’ve taken a trip back in time, recalling the style of Stevie Nicks, Jane Birkin and The Runaways. You might think the 70s trend is all about flower power and hippie vibes, but channel one of the decades biggest style icons Debbie Harry with a punk edge. Thought flares were a thing of the past? Think again. Flares are THE trousers for the season, and fortunately a flattering fit for most body shapes. So grab those flares and team with a pointed ankle boot, tassels of any kind and a touch of suede for a true 70s look.
The Modern Minimalist
A clean palette consisting of staple pieces, structured tailoring and simple separates in muted tones. A set of quality monochrome basics should be a vital part of any wardrobe, we suggest always investing more into your staple pieces. Mix greys, whites, creams and black to form the perfect minimal style wardrobe. Add a sporty edge to your outfits with a pair of sliders or trainers or if you’re brave a sporty style cap. Round off the look with a statement pair of retro glasses and you’re good to go!
Jungle Fever
For those who prefer not to stray from a wardrobe of vibrant colours and patterns, why not try out some punchy jungle pieces. Palm prints are always a winner, pair your hues of green with a stand out accessory and add a pop of colour with a lipstick such as red. Jumpsuits are a great style for this trend, or why not add a splash of animal print to a more subtle outfit?
Denim Crazy
We’re seeing a LOT of this ever-so versatile piece of material and we’re not just talking your average pair of jeans here. The denim trend goes hand in hand with the 70s look. Pair your suede jacket with a cute button up denim mini skirt, or why not try out a denim shirt dress with a pair of fringed ankle boots? Denim is versatile and the outfit opportunities are endless, mix and match your favourite denim pieces as you please. Double denim is seeing a comeback too but warning – only for the brave.
The Cold Shoulder
Or make that shoulders*. One of our favourite micro trends this summer is the influx of off-the-shoulder Bardot style tops. An elegant style, perfect for summer evening drinks with friends, or at the beach on a remote island somewhere (we can dream). A must have style for the summer, just grab your sunglasses and passport!
