Online Shopping vs Traditional Shopping

The tutorial distinguishes between Online Shopping vs Traditional Shopping:

Online Shopping

Online shopping is the process whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller in real time without an intermediary service, over the internet. It is a form of electronic commerce. An online shop, e shop, e store, internet shop, web shop, web store, online store or virtual store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks and a mortar retailer or in a shopping center. The process is called business-to-consumer (B2C) online shopping. When a business buys from another business it is called business-to-business (B2B) online shopping.

Many people browse through popular e commerce stores and search engines to find whatever they are looking for. There are many advantages and benefits of online shopping. Out of these top reasons are as follows:

  • Better Prices: The vast majority of online stores offer prices that are much lower than the physical store. The reason of low price on the net is many people use the internet to find cheaper items. Online businessmen understand this so they usually reduce their profit margin to get more customers. Another reason is because you can easily browse through dozens of different websites to find the best price. Same can be done at mall too but it will consume much of our time and energy. And you may not be taxed as most e commerce stores won’t tax you unless they are in your state.

  • Convenience: Online shopping is convenient. You don’t need to get dressed and drive to your favourite store; you can easily visit the website, find the product and buy it without getting out of your bed. You can shop online 24×7. If you are very busy and work for irregular hours. You don’t have the time to visit the store then you can shop online without changing your schedule.

  • Variety: Most physical stores have a limited array of products. They can hold limited number of items and there are often many policies affecting the availability of products. Shopping online allows you to find many products you wouldn’t be able to find in a physical store.

  • Fewer Traps: Physical stores lure you into buying more things by the use of posters, sales messages, colors and product placement to make you buy additional items. The most popular products are typically in the back because the owner wants you to view all of his or her products. Many people find a few additional items by the time they reach the thing they came in for. These tactics are not as pronounced with online stores.  This means that you won’t feel the pressure to buy other things.

Traditional Shopping

Going to your favourite store in the nearest mall fills the excitement in shopper. Getting into the store, slowly walking from rack to rack, checking out the display, putting a dress over your body and trying to check out your reflection on one of the nearby full-view mirrors that are placed all around the store. Move on to the next display rack and repeat the previous action. This is what traditional shopping is about. Having the ability to physically choose and check out what an item or product is like, would look like, and what its features are. This is why some consumers still prefer the traditional type of shopping over online shopping because one it allows them to meticulously check out an item. Some consumers are not quite certain with their own size.

Sometimes fitting a size is a problem as it is normally be bigger or smaller than their actual size. So there are still conventional shoppers who like to check out the product that they are interested in buying. It still allows for more ground to the consumers in terms of being able to physically check out or even tries out the merchandise that he wants. When purchasing new clothing- especially from a new brand- it’s crucial to try things on.

Everybody is different. Some brands might not suit, some may be sized differently than you are used to and some might be made of materials you aren’t familiar with or don’t prefer. Shopping in-store will ensure you don’t end up with an unwanted itchy sweater. Occasionally it’s nice to have a tangible explanation for what a product is like, e.g., holding the box, the manual or the item itself. Chances are that in your lifetime you will receive or buy a thing or two you wish to return, most stores are very clear and uniform with their return policies. It usually happens like this that you take your receipt and items back to the store and receive full cash or store credit back.
