Islands Climate Ideal For Producing Rum
If you were to think of industries and businesses that were experiencing a positive turn in the Seychelles, it is natural that you would think of the tourist industry. There are plenty of plantations on the islands which have an impact on the local economy but for most people, this is a series of islands that is all about relaxing while having a brilliant time on holiday. Given the great weather and positive climate, it is easy to see why people would think like that, but it is important to be aware that the Seychelles has a lot more in store than just great beaches and tremendous holiday accommodation.
While you will appreciate that a lot of people enjoy having a drink or two during their stay on the islands, you may not be aware that there is a growing company operating from the Seychelles who help to create the party atmosphere. Takamaka Bay is a rum and the company has been developing considerably in recent years, and they are helping to spread the feeling and vibe of the Seychelles around the world. There is a lot to be said for the amount of holidaymakers who fall in love with a drink on their holiday or who want to infuse their home life with a touch of their foreign holiday. There has always been a market for people returning home from a holiday with alcohol or snapping up bottles on their return to alleviate the dull and grey weather.
The Company has made Great Strides in a Number of Areas
Takamaka Bay has been performing well in a number of areas, allowing the owners of the company to expand and develop. There has been marked improvements and progress made in mainland Europe while the company has also achieved notable sales in the United Kingdom. One area where the company has experienced a high level of demand is in Dubai, where the Duty Free market is tremendously important for many alcohol companies. This is a very popular tourist destination and a considerable number of holidaymakers like to stock up on alcohol before heading home. Rum is clearly a popular spirit and lots of people are looking to snap it up at an affordable price, which is definitely what is on offer from Duty Free stores.
One of the reasons that the Seychelles is such a good destination for producing rum is due to the great quality of sugar cane that is on offer on the islands. This was the thinking behind the makers of Takamaka Bay, but they have only had the opportunity to expand the product in recent years. They started the firm with just $10,000 worth of capital, which isn’t a lot for any firm, especially a firm that is located on an island and has to incur a lot of additional costs with respect to shipping. This situation forced the company to immediately focus on finding value and producing to a high standard with what they could afford, something which has borne them in good stead over the years.
Changes to the Economic Nature of the Area has helped to provide Business with Support
Another major boost to the company came in 2008 when a number of economic recovery plans were introduced to the Seychelles. Changes to the law were brought in and it was possible for foreign exchange and capital to be utilised on the islands. This was the starting point for additional funding being utilised to support the company, and since that time they have gone from strength to strength. There is a lot to be said for providing firms with the opportunity to develop and grow, and it seems as though there is likely to be a success story at the end of it all for Takamaka Bay.
The company is looking to break into the United States, which is clearly a huge market for rum. This is definitely the sort of area that the company should be looking towards, but there will be a number of difficulties and problems posed with opening up to this new market. The fact that a company from the Seychelles believes that it can enter this market and make a considerable amount of progress is a good measure of how far they have already come, but there is no doubt that this is still the early days of the company with respect to developing a global presence.
Not too many people will instinctively think of the Seychelles when rum is mentioned, but this may be a scenario that changes in the near future.
