Into the Wild of Ranthambore

Located near the town of Sawai Madhopur in the princely state of Rajasthan, dwells the incredible untamed life of the Ranthambore National Park. The former royal hunting ground now homes the magnificent tigers, stealthy leopards and marsh crocodiles. Besides the exquisite wildlife, Ranthambore beholds a fort that manifests the architectural style of the 10th century and lake known as Padam Talao that is replete with water lilies. If you are planning to visit Ranthambore for an exciting experience, here are few things that you can consider:

Follow the Tiger’s trail

One of the major attractions, the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger dwells in the lands of Ranthambore. Watching a Royal Bengal Tiger hunting, stalking, eating and surviving in its own wild habitat is one of the electrifying sights you will witness in your whole life. Since they roam freely inside the Ranthambore tiger reserve, you can witness them flaunting their ruthless and thunderous hunting skills. Unfortunately, illegal hunting and cutting off forests have forced this spectacular cat to make it to the list of endangered species. The government is taking strict measures to bring back the population.

Go hiking to the Ranthambore Fort

The Ranthambore fort is a 10th century fort standing tall in the Ranthambore National Park. Before the independence of India, the fort was for the kings to halt and take rest while they were out on hunting. If you want to indulge in adventurous activities, you can go hiking to the Ranthambore Fort. The 3 kilometer long trek takes around 45 minutes. While hiking through the broad leaf-forest, you will witness some beautiful landscapes and can feel the serene and tranquil environment that the rugged forest is bestowed with.

For photographers, it is an indispensable experience. The nearby lake draws many species from across the National park. So, you can spend the whole day sitting there, capturing the beautiful wild nature.

The Jungle Safari

If you are visiting Ranthambore, engaging in the jungle safari is a staple experience. The majestic Royal Bengal Tigers roam the forest of Ranthambore and if you are willing to witness this beast in its natural habitat, the jungle safari is the ideal way. You can stay in a Ranthambore resort that is close to the park and go for the early jungle safari at 6 a.m. when there is the maximum chance of spotting a tiger. Besides that, the beautiful green landscape and the serene environment are captivating. During the evening, you will find yourself mesmerised by the melodious chirping of the birds.
