Holidays with a difference

Are you sick and tired of beach holidays? Do you find it hard to get motivated to book anything else? Have you run out of ideas and need some inspiration? Then why don’t you think about an activity holiday? You could explore your favourite pastime or sport, take time to see a different side to a country rather than the local tavern and beach. Even if you don’t have any hobbies or have no time to explore a new sport then a week or two in the sun, doing something that takes you out of your comfort zone could be the best way to clear your head from the day to day stress of life.

Get creative

At a certain age we lose the creativity of our childhood. Remember as a child you were either playing make-believe, drawing, painting or gluing things! Then we grow up, stress of work and everyday life take over and the playtime of childhood becomes a distant memory. So why not reinvigorate your creativity on holiday? There are so many arts and crafts holidays on offer now it’s hard to know what to choose. Whatever you’re level of skill or knowledge, most holidays can offer something for everyone. So even if you have never lifted a paintbrush since childhood, you will be able to find your creative self and learn how to paint in watercolour or oils in some of the most stunning locations in the world. These holidays are perfect if you are travelling alone, as you are occupied most of the time painting or visiting galleries, working in groups, eating your meals and socialising together in the evenings. You can choose to spend all your time with the group but there will always be a quiet moment if you that’s what you prefer.

Get active

If you are sick of your sedentary lifestyle and would prefer something more active then what about a walking holiday in a spectacular location such as the Great Wall of China or trekking in Iceland. You could learn to scuba dive in the Red Sea or try your hand (and raise your blood pressure) at white water rafting in the Canadian Rockies. If you play sports but would like to improve your skills you could sample the championship golf courses of Portugal whilst trying to reduce your handicap. Tennis holidays are always popular as are the spectacular resorts they are located in. The opportunity of playing your favourite sport or being totally wrapped up in learning a new activity all day long will be for some, the prefect way to spend a week or two. If you don’t fancy playing a particular sport, then why not try your hand at a fitness boot camp? If you are unsure about committing to a holiday full of fitness, then why not try a local camp first, they have plenty of classes in all cities, from an abundance in London (ones that even take place during your work break!) or after work boot camps in Milton Keynes.

Get healthy

If you are looking to get fit and healthy then perhaps a spa holiday would be the ideal option. If your lifestyle isn’t conducive to good health such as drinking too much coffee and alcohol as well as eating too much of the wrong foods, then a detox with relaxing spa treatments could be the thing to put your life back on track. Don’t expect to be able to fill yourself with the naughty stuff associated with holidays though, the point of such a break is to improve your life and your health. If you’ve been through a stressful time and need to feed your mind, body and soul then a relaxing, detox break could be just the thing to restore your balance. Instead of coming home and going on a diet you will return to your regular life, ready to face challenges with renewed vigour.

Choosing a holiday should be fun. With a bit of thought, effort and planning you can ensure you choose a holiday that not only relaxes you but one that helps you explore the world, your capabilities, your creativity whilst uncovering skills and talents you never thought you had!
